While there, players must face the harsh and unforgiving environment, gather resources and tools, and take on hostile military personnel along with Stalkers and mysterious creatures. Chernobylite is called a 'sci-fi role-playing game' by the developers themselves but is probably more of a survival simulator with strong Metro / Stalker vibes and a number of more or less well-implemented role-playing elements in it, if you ask me. The game follows Ukrainian physicist Igor Khymynuk who ventures into the Chernobyl Exclusion Zone to find his fiancée. It’s difficult to say if Chernobylite is worth someone’s time or not. These points either have some special loot or some kind of NPC encounter. Outside of a few set pieces that show off more creativity, most of the game’s visuals are adequate. The DLC includes a free content upgrade with Memories Of You, a new weapon in the Silent Assassin crossbow, and a paid content pack too. Chernobylite feels a lot more story-focused and accessible than STALKER did because various points of interest around each area around Pripyat are handily marked on your HUD. Chernobylite received generally favorable reviews for most platforms according to review aggregator Metacritic the PlayStation 4 and Xbox Series X/S versions.
